A Special Celebration of the 150th Jubilee of La Salle (Frères) School in Jerusalem
Today, La Salle (Frères) School in Jerusalem celebrated the 150th anniversary of its founding with a special gathering dedicated to former teachers who served the school over the years. This encounter was a heartfelt gesture of gratitude and loyalty to those who contributed to building the school’s educational and human legacy.
The celebration began with a solemn Holy Mass presided over by Father Marwan Daddes, Director of the Catholic Center for Media. During his homily, Father Daddes spoke about the important role that La Salle School in Jerusalem has played in educating generations, instilling human and Christian values, and serving both Church and society. He praised the initiative of the school administration in inviting the former teachers, emphasizing that such a gesture reflects deep appreciation for their years of dedication and service.
Following the Mass, the school principal delivered a speech of thanks and recognition to the retired and former teachers, expressing his deep gratitude for their faithful commitment and the great impact they left on the life of the school and its students. He underlined that the good reputation and rich history of La Salle School today are the fruit of their efforts and sacrifices over many decades.
The program continued with the screening of a video presenting the history and founding of the school, highlighting key milestones in its 150-year journey at the heart of Jerusalem. A second video was then shown featuring the testimony and experience of teacher Lyan Metya, who began her service at the school in 1973. In her sharing, she recalled meaningful moments from her teaching career, her relationship with students and colleagues, and how working at La Salle became an essential part of her life and vocation.
The gathering concluded with a festive dinner prepared for the occasion, where former teachers, current staff, and guests enjoyed a warm atmosphere of friendship and nostalgia. Stories and memories from past generations were shared, reviving the spirit of one big Lasallian family.
This jubilee celebration was more than just an anniversary event; it was a living reminder that La Salle (Frères) School in Jerusalem is not only an educational institution but a true family bound together by shared history, values, and mission. It carried a clear message of gratitude to all who contributed to building its 150-year legacy—and a renewed commitment to continue this mission for generations to come.
