Bethlehem University Delegation Honored by Pope Francis for Service-Learning Excellence
Bethlehem University has been awarded a Special Mention in the 2024 edition of the prestigious Uniservitate Global Award for Service-Learning in Catholic Higher Education. This milestone was celebrated on November 9, 2024, in a private audience with Pope Francis at the Vatican’s Clementine Hall.
During the audience, Pope Francis commended our initiatives for bridging the “mind, heart, and hands” to inspire societal transformation. His words reaffirmed our mission to empower students as agents of change, fostering education rooted in compassion and service.
Two outstanding initiatives were recognized:
“Global Citizenship, Sustainability, and Service Learning » by the Department of English and Communication (Ramzi Asali, Layth Awwad, and Ruba Ayyad).
« Health Awareness Programs » by the Department of Nursing and Midwifery (Dr. Hanan Saca-Hazboun, Amal Abu Nijmeh-Fakhouri, and Fatmeh Madani-Hammad).
